Locality & Character in One Surface

The use of wood elements as wall cladding is no longer just decoration. In this project, we explored how the regular vertical arrangement of wood can create a strong visual rhythm, emphasize the building's lines, and create dramatic spatial depth—especially when exposed to Bali's natural light.

Function Beyond Aesthetics

Besides enhancing the facade, the wood cladding also acts as a thermal barrier and helps regulate passive ventilation. In this villa project, wood elements are a key part of our passive design strategy to reduce reliance on air conditioning.

What We Can Learn from This Project

Vertical cladding design can enhance a building's character in a simple yet elegant way. Local materials such as teak or ironwood remain relevant in a modern tropical design approach. Aesthetic elements designed with climate considerations will have a long-term impact on comfort and energy efficiency.
